Although the body is shattered
into jagged remnants,
a glistening ghostÂ
of its resplendent glory,
the unified, grounding base
flung in the wind
and raining sharp drops upon us,
a warm, smooth- edged shard sits
barely visible and glowing on a distant hill:
It still matters, and we still care
desperately, each of us,
our hearts still are not yet closed.
